For referring physicians

A retina partner your patients will thank you for

Optometrists, ophthalmologists, endocrinologists, and primary care physicians across Long Island refer to Dr. Maisel for prompt evaluation, clear communication, and outstanding surgical outcomes.

How referrals work

Simple, fast, and always closed-loop

1. Call or send a referral

Call either office or submit the online referral form. Urgent cases such as suspected detachment or artery occlusion are seen the same day.

2. Complete evaluation

OCT, angiography, and widefield imaging are performed on site so most patients are diagnosed and treated at the first visit.

3. Written report to your office

Dr. Maisel personally dictates a report after every visit and is available by phone to discuss findings with you directly.

When to refer

  • New or worsening macular degeneration, including candidates for Valeda light therapy

  • Diabetic retinopathy or macular edema requiring injections, laser, or surgery

  • Acute flashes, floaters, retinal tears, or suspected detachment (same-day)

  • Vein or artery occlusion, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, uveitis
