Diagnostic tests

Diagnostic tests

Advanced imaging that supports same-visit diagnosis.

Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective retinal care. Both of our offices are equipped with advanced imaging and testing technology so that most evaluations can be completed in a single visit.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT)

OCT creates a detailed cross-sectional image of the retina, allowing Dr. Maisel to measure swelling, detect fluid, and track changes over time with extraordinary precision.

Fluorescein angiography

A small amount of dye is injected into a vein in your arm and photographs are taken as it passes through the retinal blood vessels. This test reveals leaking or blocked vessels in diabetic retinopathy, vein occlusion, and macular degeneration.

Widefield retinal photography

High-resolution images capture nearly the entire retina in a single view, helping to document peripheral disease and monitor progress between visits.

Ultrasound

When the view of the retina is blocked by bleeding or cataract, ocular ultrasound allows Dr. Maisel to evaluate the retina and plan treatment.

Ask whether this treatment is right for you

Dr. Maisel will evaluate your retina with advanced imaging and explain every option.
