Retinal injections

Retinal injections

Quick. Comfortable. Sight-preserving.

Intravitreal injections deliver medication directly into the vitreous gel of the eye, where it can act on the retina. They are the most common treatment for wet macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusion.

What to expect

The eye is numbed with drops and cleaned with an antiseptic. The injection itself takes only seconds and most patients feel only mild pressure. You can usually return to normal activities the same day.
